Biography

Amazon Conservation Association (also known as Amazon Conservation) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been protecting the western Amazon for almost 20 years now. As conservation pioneers since 1999, we have used science to guide our multi-pronged approach to environmental conservation and restoration in Peru and Bolivia. Our founding program provided support for Brazil nut harvesters in Peru, as an incentive for protecting the forest. Since then, the organization has grown to protect over 4 million acres of rainforest, establish Peru’s first conservation concession, host thousands of scientists and tourists at our three premier biological stations, empower indigenous communities to develop forest-friendly livelihoods, and so much more.

Animal Friends, a premier companion animal resource center, is committed to nurturing and promoting the animal-human bond and creating a community where our relationship with companion animals is guided by compassion. Our mission is to ensure the well being of companion animals, while ending overpopulation, abuse and unwarranted euthanasia. It is our vision to: reduce the number of unwanted animals through aggressive spay/neuter programs; provide for the well-being of companion animals in need, while adhering to our no-kill tradition, and find each a lifelong, loving home; promote the animal-human bond through education and outreach programs; and act as an advocate on behalf of animals in crisis and as an enforcer of their rights and protection.

Biography

Humane Animal Rescue is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in Pennsylvania, providing services to tens of thousands of animals each year at our two shelters and wildlife rehabilitation center. Formed in 2017, Humane Animal Rescue is the result of a merger between the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (established in 1909) and Western Pennsylvania Humane Society (established in 1874), each with independently rich histories of serving our community’s animals in need. Our new organization continues the legacies of our predecessors with the task of providing enhanced services to domestic and wild animals alike, while bringing greater efficiency in animal care processes, staff training, and cutting-edge practices to one cohesive organization.
